Photoaging is an exogenous form of skin aging caused by damage to the skin from prolonged exposure to sunlight. Photoaging is mainly caused by ultraviolet radiation, with long-wave UV and medium-wave UV being the main factors leading to photoaging. Characteristics include loose, dry skin, deepening wrinkles, and increased pigmentation, which affects aesthetics. It is important to avoid too much exposure to the sun and take good sun protection measures. Photo-aging is most common in people who work outdoors for long periods of time, such as farmers, seafarers and people living in high mountainous areas. The incidence of photo-aging increases with age, but is greatly affected by the degree of exposure to ultraviolet rays. The geographical areas of high incidence include areas with strong ultraviolet rays, such as plateaus and the tropics.
